A week before the lunar year, I went on an impromptu trip to Glodok for the first time, the biggest Chinatown in Indonesia. I spent my weekend observing how Chinese-Indonesian practice the tradition nowadays, especially related to the upcoming lunar year. I chatted with people there about the chinese culture including the merchants, elderly people, and temple's guards.

I gathered some of my findings on my sketchbook and camera. I also painted my sketches with gouache afterwards to capture the colors. The color theme of the final artworks is inspired by the real vibe of Glodok.
