Adventures In Wonderland

The cover concept reimagines Alice’s fall down the rabbit hole as a time-travel loop through the history of children’s literature. Surrounding her is a swirl of seminal works such as Tommy Thumb’s Pretty Songbook, Orbis Sensualium Pictus, Peter and Wendy, and The Tailor of Gloucester — each redrawn by me in their original etching style (all in the public domain).
For typography, I paired IM FELL Great Primer SC for the title with Garamond Premier Pro for the body text, evoking the feel of hand-scribed manuscripts and complementing the classical illustration style.
The back cover features a Tea Party scene, where Alice and Michael Rosen sit together, inviting readers into the conversation about children’s literature that unfolds in the book.
In addition, I created two chapter illustrations:
Lecture 1 – inspired by Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
Lecture 2 – inspired by Emil and the Detectives, visualising the range of children’s literature genres as clues pinned to a crime investigation wall
